Notion Subscription Overview & Billing Traps

Comprehensive overview of Notion Plus, Business, Notion AI Add-on, prorated member seat calculations, and refund rules.

Notion operates workspace-level tiered pricing: Free, Plus ($10–$12/seat/mo), Business ($15–$18/seat/mo), and Enterprise. In addition, Notion AI ($8–$10/seat/mo) is sold as an optional add-on that matches your workspace seat count.

Quick Guides

3 Critical Billing Traps to Watch Out For

1. The Member vs. Guest Trap

Adding a collaborator to your Notion workspace as a Member automatically consumes a paid seat ($10–$12/month) and triggers an immediate prorated charge on your credit card. If your workspace has Notion AI enabled, it also charges an additional AI license for that user. To share pages without incurring extra seat costs, always invite collaborators as Guests.

2. The Separate Notion AI Add-on Lock

Canceling or downgrading a workspace from Notion Plus to Free does not automatically cancel the Notion AI Add-on. Users frequently discover $10/month recurring charges remaining on their credit card statement because the AI add-on was billed independently.

3. Multiple Workspace Billing Confusion

Notion subscriptions are bound strictly to individual Workspaces, not to your user email. If you switch between personal spaces and company spaces, you must ensure you are managing settings in the specific workspace holding the paid subscription.
